How To Care For Your Moroccan Rug

Please note that all of our rugs are professionally cleaned before shipped out to our customers. Despite Moroccan rugs being made super resistant and designed to last a lifetime, we recommend regular maintenance to keep your rug in tip top condition.

    Cotton Boucherouite:

    Day-to-day care:
    You can vacuum your rug
To eliminate odors and humidity, let it dry in the sun for a day
If you store it, we do not recommend storing it in a bag. Let the rug breath in open air.

    Spot cleaning:

If an accidental liquid spill or spot stain has landed on your rug, it is ideal that that you clean that off immediately. Start by dabbing a paper towel at the spot where the liquid spill, and then immediately after, put baking soda which will soak up as much of the liquid as possible.

Baking soda only works with simple stains. In case you have a tougher stain, use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar which will be able to break down the stain. Wait for a few minutes after application of the baking soda or mixture and then vacuum the spot.

A mixture of cold water and vinegar in a 1-to-1 ratio is enough to help with a spot stain. You can soak the stain spot with this mixture delivered from a spray bottle. Ensure that you have saturated the wool with the mixture for more perfect and quicker result. You can then use a soft-bristle brush to gently clean the area and then leave it for 10 minutes before blotting out excess liquid using a paper towel.

Alternatively, you can use a carpet specific spot cleaner spray which can be found at your local supermarket. Follow the instructions on the back of the bottle.

    Deep cleaning your rug:
For best results, have it cleaned by a professional rug cleaner.
You can wash it by hand with cold water and laundry soap and rinse it with your garden hose. Then let it fully dry in the sun, ensuring that it’s no longer wet or humid before putting it back on the floor.
